Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions, answered.

It’s completely normal to have questions before starting therapy. Here are answers to the most common ones.

Getting Started

The first step is reaching out through the contact form or by calling (423) 218-2146. We’ll schedule a free 15-minute phone or video consultation so we can connect, you can ask questions, and we can both decide if we’re a good fit. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your first full session from there.

A free consultation is a brief 15-minute call for us to get acquainted. I’ll ask a little about what brings you to therapy, share how I work, and answer any questions you have. It’s low-pressure and there’s no commitment required. Many people feel nervous before the first contact — that’s completely okay and expected.

Please reach out to inquire about current availability. Openings can vary, but I encourage you to get in touch — if I’m not currently available, I may be able to offer a waitlist spot or refer you to a trusted colleague who would be a good fit.

Virtual Therapy

Sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video telehealth. You’ll receive a link before your session that you can access on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. All you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection. Many clients find that virtual therapy feels more comfortable and accessible than in-person care.

Because this is a fully virtual practice, I can see clients anywhere in the state of Tennessee. You don’t need to be in Chattanooga or any specific area — as long as you’re located within Tennessee during our sessions, we’re good to go.

That’s completely understandable. While video is the primary format, we can discuss what would help you feel most at ease. Some clients start with their camera off and gradually become more comfortable over time. I’ll always work at your pace.

Fees & Insurance

This practice is currently out-of-network with insurance providers. However, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance ahead of time to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Individual therapy sessions are $165 for 50 minutes. A sliding scale fee may be available for clients who need financial accommodation — please reach out to discuss. Accepted payment methods include major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, PayPal, check, and cash.

Please reach out directly to learn about the cancellation policy. I ask for reasonable notice when possible so I can offer the time to another client who may need it. Life happens — please communicate openly and we can work through it together.

About the Work

Trauma-informed therapy means that everything we do in the room is shaped by an understanding of how trauma impacts the brain, body, and nervous system. We never push you beyond what feels safe, we work at your pace, and we prioritize building a felt sense of safety before going deeper. Healing doesn’t have to feel like re-wounding.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and goals together. I’ll never keep you in therapy longer than is helpful — your autonomy matters.

Absolutely and wholeheartedly. As a member of the queer community myself, LGBTQ+ affirming care isn’t a box I check — it’s woven into everything I do. Your identity, relationships, and experiences are valid, celebrated, and centered here. Queer, trans, non-binary, and questioning folks are especially welcomed and held with deep care.
